NCLB Program Improvement (PI) School Choice letters are being mailed this week to the parents of all students who are scheduled to articulate into PI schools for September 2008. For example, a 5th grade student currently at a K-5 elementary school will receive a letter if s/he is scheduled to attend a middle school that is in PI. Approximately 160
schools are affected—schools that have at least one student enrolled who could apply to transfer, or schools that are potential receiving schools. The letter clearly indicates that it is the next school (for September 2008 enrollment) that is in PI. Also, please note that the deadline for parents to submit applications for Fall 2008 placements is January 31,
