The latest report on "Students with Financial Need, May 2007" is now available on the Research and Reporting web page at http://studata.sandi.net/research/reports/frl07.rpt.pdf. The report provides individual school data for the 2006-07 school year and presents and discusses district trends. It notes that after a steady climb from 1984 through the mid-1990s of district student eligibility for free and reduced-price meals, meal eligibility generally decreased through 2005; since then there has been a notable increase. It appears that most of this recent increase is reflected in much increased senior high school eligibility rates and is the result of the introduction of household or family applications in the last few years. The report also discusses differences in meal eligibility related to race/ethnicity and grade level.
