The District Mathematics Test (DMT) is given to students in Grade 5 near the end of
the school year. This test assesses grade-level mathematics skills and is tied to state content
standards. The results of the DMT serve to identify students in need of additional mathematics support.
The test consists of 10 computational problems and 10 word problems. The DMT score
indicates the total number of problems answered correctly, with a maximum of 20.
The DMT summaries for each school and the district indicate how students performed on the DMT.
They display the number of students scoring at various levels based on the number of correct answers.
The test results in turn are combined with mathematics class marks to indicate how students placed in
relation to their grade level (significantly below grade level, below grade level, or above/at/close to grade level).
