Standards, Assessment, and Accountability Division
What We Do
The Program Studies Department provides program and policy evaluation, customized reporting, data collection and analyses, and survey and interview protocol development. The Program Studies team supports major district initiatives by monitoring student progress in specific program environments. Projects for the 2007-08 school year include, in part, evaluation and reporting on English Learners, the Urban Systemic Program (funded by the National Science Foundation), integration-related programs, and the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. The department is also responsible for coordinating and monitoring district research that originates in the Office of Resource Development (formerly the Grants Office).

Councils and Committees

Equity in Student Placement Oversight Committee

This committee, established in the mid-1970s, supports activities and policies that promote equitable access to learning opportunities. The committee’s projects and reports have focused on a broad range of district interest (e.g., student performance, curriculum issues, student attendance, and dropout and suspension rates). While the committee is independent and members serve at the request of Board members, the Program Studies Department facilitates the committee’s data reporting and analyses.

Published Reports and Presentations
The Program Studies Department produces reports and presentations on a variety of educational programs and policies. The department’s archives hold reports generated since the 1998-99 school year.
