Program Monitoring: District Advisory Council for Compensatory Education (DAC)

The Planning and Accountability Department serves as the liaison between the District Advisory Council for Compensatory Education Programs (DAC) and the district. The Planning and Accountability Department assists with agenda development; preparing materials and booking speakers for meetings; and delivering training for School Site Councils (SSC), and the DAC.

The DAC is an advisory group of elected representatives from Title I schools that consults with the district on behalf of compensatory education program participants. The DAC provides communication, information, and training for the local SSC. DAC members are elected from qualifying SSCs, and include parents and community or non-administrative staff.

The DAC meetings Adobe Acrobat Document are open to the public and are held monthly throughout the school year from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m at Fremont Elementary in the Harold J. Ballard Parent Center. DAC Meeting Minutes and Agendas will be posted online as they become available.

The DAC assisted with the creation of the Addendum to the Parent Involvement Policy for Title I [Spanish] [Cambodian] [Lao] [Somali] Adobe Acrobat Document approved by the Board of Education on October 25, 2005. This Addendum provides a way of identifying and evaluating activities in support of the Title I Parent Involvement Policy for parents, community members, and staff. Within the policy are activities and direct links to more information. Title I schools must distribute a copy of the Addendum to the Parent Involvement Policy for Title I Schools and the Guidelines for Implementation, along with the Cover Letter, to parents no later than January 31, 2006.
